Remote locations in Czechia

I like huge overcrowded cities but also love remote buildings in the middle of nowhere. There are lots of lists of most dense populated areas and biggest cities, but no list of remote locations in our country.

At one night I downloaded raw RUIAN data from Cadastral Office in Czechia and get coordinates of buildings in prependicular system S-JTSK which is great for calculate approximate distance, but difficult to find in map. Other challanging thing was number of buildings with defined S-JTSK coordinates in Czechia - 2,957,689 buildings - which results in huge number of combinations for brute force.

I implemented quadtrees and total execution time drop from 17 days in to 1 minute and successfully converted S-JTSK to WGS-84.

First place 🏆 of the most remote building sharing 2 sheds in Šumava National Park with distance to each other 4,178 m! Closest city to them is Modrava which is 7 km away.

Březník

Březník is a secluded place located in the wide valley of the Luzenský potok, 7.5 km southeast of Modrava, in the cadastral area of Filipova Huť, part of the Modrava municipality.

Roklanská chata

Roklanská chata is a secluded place located in the middle of the Modrava peat bogs in the Šumava National Park. It was built for foresters by the forestry administration. After 1948, it was located in the restricted zone of the Iron Curtain, and after the fall of the Iron Curtain, the entire area was incorporated into Zone I of the Šumava National Park.
